On Wednesday evening I went into the AT&T Store located on N. Collins in Arlington, TX. I went in to return my iPhone 4 because the reception was horrible so my plan was to put my iPhone 3GS in place of the iPhone 4. The rep confirmed that everything was clear and that he would be reversing my upgrade and that he would make sure that he would cancel my upgrade and that I would get a credit on my account for the amount of the phone. So I ask the guy to program my iPhone 3GS just to make sure it is all working correctly .. I was certain he could handle this basic task.

I leave the store and go home and a few hours later my mother-in-law calls my cell phone asking for my wife… I thought that’s odd but My wife then notices that she is not getting any service at all on her cell phone at all on her iPhone 4. At first I was like, you see that is why I returned my device but this was a bit different so she picked up the home phone and called her cell phone number and I answered.. HELLO!! At this moment we realized that AT&T messed up and programmed the device with the incorrect phone number. So the only way to fix it now is to take both devices into a corporate AT&T store. Time I really don’t have but will have to make since our business depends on those numbers being available. I just hope they did not lose my phone number and that it is still tied to my account.

AT&T MESSED UP EVERYTHING, AGAIN

I say AGAIN because

about a year ago at the Grand Prairie store on i20 store the very same thing happened to us where we where upgrading or purchasing and iphone and they activated the device the put the device on my line in place of my wife’s account so my wife who was on the road had no service. And the only way for her to get service just like in our current situation is to take our devices into a corporate AT&T and get a SIM Card. So I have to wait till an AT&T store opens up in the morning and take it in to the store. Lucky for for me I am not going out of town on business.. I have a feeling that once other carriers like Verizon begin to start carrying the iPhone AT&T is going to begin to see end of your losses.

Nick Novello has served as a Dallas Police Officer for 28 years. I have come across several old media pieces that would make you wonder how such a thing could continue to happen and not be investigated further. I mean we all kind of understand that there is that code of blue standard where you don’t tell on a fellow officer. Well to what extent are you willing to take it, we are not just talking about traffic tickets here. We are talking about women who may have been prostitutes at the time so officers would use that against them and would issue them citations for crimes they never committed. These were people with prior records so who was someone going to believe.. The prostitute or the police officer? Some officers took to using computers systems within the police department to actually pull up known people who have had problems with the law.. Once they found them in the system they would basically take a blank citation and start filling in the name , date of birth, along with any other information that was in the system so that later on that day or evening when they saw that prostitute they would make that person sign that citation. Here you had police officers using technology by means of using internal computers to manifest a criminal trafficking enterprise built to issue citations to anyone these officers felt like doing this to. They would issue citations to the homeless, whatever it took to feed the urge.
So who knows what to look for when these things were occurring well definitely not your rookies because there were incidents where rookies where made to resign or let go based on them not cooperating with the illegal scheme that they found early on in the Dallas Police Department. Some chose to go along with the program, and then there were was an officer named Nick Novello, who is known for telling the story exactly the way it is. He is open to talking with anyone who would like to discuss ways to fix a broken Dallas Police Department. Nick Novello went as far as to release this video to state for the record exactly what is on his mind and how he has been mistreated since going public with information that led to the termination of other Dallas Police Officers. I would look at the video and think really hard to see when was the last time you heard a police officer go on camera and give a statement as detailed as he did in relation to being looked upon as a whistle blower and how he has legal counsel and a team in place to help other officers anywhere in the state of Texas should they decide that they need to move forward with some information that they will not be alone and they will have support.

Here is the video from Nick Novello, Dallas Police Officer for 28 years..

If you where like many people today I noticed many posts on facebook and twitter from friends and family upset at Apple and AT&T about not being able to pre-order the iPhone 4 simply because the demand seemed to be too high today. There have been reports that some customers had experienced trying to order from 9am EST and after website time outs, error messages, clueless customer services reps and reservations documented at the incorrect price. We were able to hop on twitter and facebook to find that we and our friends were not alone. Also we are getting word that some AT&T customers reported seeing other AT&T customers data information and not there own which raises very serious security information all while the FBI has been investigating the recent case where data was breached on the Ipad level. Be sure to stay tuned to hear what comes of this in the coming days. If you have not ordered your Iphone 4 and are looking for better ways to do that here is some great advice.

Best Buy, which is also accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 4, doesn’t go through AT&T’s activation system. The company seems to have its own line. So if you don’t mind getting your phone at Best Buy for a $50 deposit, it looks like this is the fastest way to do a pre-order on an iPhone 4 without having to deal with AT&T.

RadioShack is also taking pre-orders and we’ve heard some positive reports via Twitter about its process too.

Our advice for people who are still trying to pre-order an iPhone 4:

Try the Apple Store app first. The pricing confirmation may be incorrect for now but you can at least you can reserve a phone. The app is currently NOT taking reservations at this time but that could change as things settle down.

If there is a Best Buy in your area and you don’t mind putting down a $50 deposit, go to Best Buy. Chances are the retailer’s launch day lines will be way shorter too.

Avoid going to any AT&T stores if you can…

Wait until tomorrow to see if the problems have cleared up any..

Have you been able to pre-order your iPhone 4? How long did it take? Share your experience in the comments.

So what is one to do when they are not within range of that 4G tiered data that can reach speeds of up to 6MB in data connectivity? Well that’s a no-brainer many would say because we have been doing that for years with all of our devices can connect to the WiFi right? Well Can they? Well maybe not.. based on what we are hearing the HTC EVO 4G recently released by Sprint is having issues connecting to WiFi connections. Some people have reported that no matter how close in proximity to the router they place the device they can get no more than 1 bar. Some have done more extensive research and have actually downloaded software to 3 different devices to track the signal and the EVO would get 70db while another device would get 40db in the same exact location. This is a major issue as many people do depend on WiFi connectivity when inside of their home or office because more of the applications these days are data heavy so some for example depend on WiFi in some cases to work effectively. In my home this would be a huge let down along with the HTC EVO glass separation issues is a big red flag for me.

We found that there were pages of complaints on the same issue so we decided to include the link here to the HTC Support Forum.

HTC EVO owners are reporting that they are having issues with the lower portions of their screen coming loose. The separation is causing excessive light leakage below, but get’s increasingly worse as users try to massage the screen to try to fix it.

AT&T decided that in an effort to better serve the public they would go through everyone’s phone bill to look at the data usage to see just how much everyone was really using and seriously cut out the pork barrel spending. For example their claim is that 98% of AT&T customers use less than 2GB of Data on average. I happen to be one of those customers but if AT&T had taken the time to ask me as a customer I would have told them I am not a happy camper with the new changes and would like the unlimited plan to stay in effect and would be happy to pay $30 a month for unlimited data just to know that I am not going to go over my data usage as a business customer.

If your not already aware AT&T will offer new iPhone users a choice of data plans to coincide with new iPhones around the corner coming out June 7. New users will be forced to decide between a low end plan that is there surely to make you say yikes! I better not do that or I will certainly go over my data plan @ 200MB for $15/month or 2GB for $25 . I must say the 2GB will cover most users and I would suggest that you get that because any data usage above those limits will result in overage charges that have the potential to double your monthly data fees for the iPhone. Current iPhone users can keep their current or switch to a cheaper tiered data plan.

I would be more concerned with the research that AT&T did about 98% of it’s customers only using 2GB of data being done at a time when we did not have tethering.. at a time before really good streaming video, before you could use Skype calls on the 3G network, HD Video capability, many capabilities that the network is aware of that the consumers are not aware of. So I say this to put it into perspective along with what other ideas may come our way .

Most users will probably save money under AT&T’s new data plan . As AT&T pointed out recently . 200MB of data gives you the ability to send and receive 1000 email messages and 150 emails with attachments , 400 web pages, post 50 photos on social media sites, and watch 20 minutes of streaming video.

If you plan on using a Wi-Fi connection for your device when you work at home or at your office or in the range of an AT&T Wi-Fi connection (free access for AT&T customers), it gets easier to survive on 200MB

While saving you money from AT&T’s new campaign many customers will see this as an opportunity to find better coverage somewhere else. I happen to think that the 4G HTC EVO is looking pretty nice at the moment . The new iPhone is going to have to do more than just tether to get my attention since I expected that 3 iPhone’s ago and i have yet to get it.. and now on order to get it I am going to have to pay $20 extra for a pro data plan to get it. Well let’s see what Verizon and AT&T have up there sleeve as there have been lot’s of talk as to whether or not Verizon will or won’t get the iPhone on it’s network and my guess is they will because AT&T would not have increased their ETF (Early Termination Fee) for nothing. Basically AT&T knows something that no one else is supposed to know. So look for some other carrier to soon be carrying the iPhone and look for it to be announced soon. You can follow me on twitter @chakery or add me on facebook by searching for Chakery Design.

Chris Fantich indicted for conspiracy to commit aggravated assault…

Chris Fantich brother of Fantich Media Group owner Marc Fantich was indicted on March 17, 2010 at 4:20 pm in what seems like a hairy plot in what has two defendants Chris Fantich of Fantich Media Group and Chance Lee Jenkins being charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault which is a 2nd degree felony in the State of Texas which carries a penalty of 2-20 years prison term or a $10,000 fine..

Now why would Chris Fantich or Chance Jenkins want to cause me bodily harm? If you your just now tuning in you let me tell you. Marc Fantich owner of Fantich Media Group and RGV Magazine, the brother of Chris Fantich owed Chakery Design $1000-$1500. Marc Fantich didn’t want to pay the final balance. So I decided to post online about how Marc Fantich breached his web agreement, which upsets Marc Fantich very dearly. He even threatened to send someone to my door to cause me bodily harm.. Luckily for Marc Fantich his brother Chris Fantich will take the fall for thoughtless endeavor. One would ask how did Chris Fantich get involved in this matter since the dispute was between Fantich Media Group and Chakery Design. I have to ask what would you have rather spent $1,000 or time in prison of a family member.. plus court cost and attorney fees..

I came across this video clip of Chris Fantich featured in a Rainbow Play Systems TV Commercial.. I have included the clip for your viewing pleasure. I particularly would not want this guy showing up to play with my children..

2009 was a year like many that seen many trends come and some go.. Crocks are no longer allowed for every day wear. I have learned the hard way.. apparently there was a fashion expert on TV that pointed this out but I don’t care do you? Speaking of Crock…. this year saw us get fed a crock of you know what with bailout’s to corporate america every twist and turn from the very beginning of 2009 after President Obama took office and promised the world “Change”. Bank Of America and CIT Group seen some change but the taxpayers did not…

This year many people adopted more technologies that have been around before 2009. For example Social Media sites like Facebook launched on February 4, 2004 and infamous MySpace in August 2003. Myspace was eventually overtaken internationally in August of 2008 so that is why this year 2009 it seems like the craze of facebook has had everyone adding friends and creating every sort of fan page you can imagine like.. Texting the person next you stuff that you can not say out loud.. yes that is a fan page.. During 2009 when facebook was having a record year with everyone signing up and logging in atleast 1-3 times a day Myspace was forced to cut 30% of its workforce in June of 2009. Where was the bailout there! We needed a social media bailout! where was it?

And then there was “Twitter” March 21, 2006… 140 characters. Short form communication is now a reality to people who normally would have said what is that and how does it work. For business owners and marketers social media is an extremely important part of todays business.

But guess what here is what I see for 2010. People are going to be logging in less to facebook and twitter. You see many people are tired of having to log into all of these different accounts. I have accounts for Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, Stumble Upon, Delicous, Linkedin, and Bebo…. so here is what I see happening. There are services that act as a gateway to your social media sites. You log into one site such as friendbinder and this site will allow you to update your status for both twitter and facebook at the same time. There is another site called SPNb@bble that allows you to connect to many more sites and again updates more than one social media site at a time.

A great app for your iphone that will allow you to update your status on Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace is called Statustic

So now we have covered the technology and it is time to talk about the least liked part of the message..and that is the terrorists.. and before I go there I must say that I am not racists, I am just going off the data that I am provided. There are people who claim to be on a jihad mission and they try to bring down our airliners like on Christmas day. This guy had explosives on his body in his underwear. He tried to do the same thing that Richard Reid the shoe bomber tried to do on December 22, 2001. Is it ironic that the dates were so close to one another? I don’t think so. These people want to cause as much damage as they can and will do whatever they can to do so. I feel that somewhere along the chain of command there is a huge ball being dropped. Somewhere along the way this guy was dropping explosives out of his under wear yet he was still able to get on a plane to the USA. Instead of the government saying look there was some big miscommunication on why we can’t seem to stop the shoe bomb and the under wear bomb but look here is what we are going to do to prevent it from getting on the plane.. They say look we are going to set up some very strict guidelines basically we are going to run our airlines like a prison system. Prison systems are set up to keep all contraband and weapons out of the prison system but yet shanks still make it into the system… cell phones, drugs, and money all make it into the system.. But below are some rules that have just been rolled out by the TSA..

1. Everyone must stay seated one hour before landing on international flights.

1. No blankets or pillows or items in laps in the last hour of a flight.

2. No announcements from the cockpit about cities, landmarks or perhaps even when planes start to descend.

3. No route-tracking displays on international flights

4. No laptop computer use in-flight. Some passengers reported this. Let’s hope it’s simply over-aggressive low-level TSA officials, air marshals or flight crews.

Now people if you look at any in flight situations that have occurred since 9/11 like the Richard Reid shoe bomber and this latest incident on Christmas day both of them were brought down by passengers people like Todd Beamer who was on hijacked United Airlines flight #93 under this new rule would not have been able to take control of that situation on that hijacked aircraft in fear that your going to be federally charged if that plane lands.

Let’s not forget the victims of the Fort Hood shooting. What upsets me about this case is that the terrorist who committed this heinous act that ended with 43 victims one of which was pregnant is that he is still referred to as a “suspect” in the case. If you look here you will see that when you get to his name Nidal Malik Hasan the terrorist who committed the act above his name they refer to him as a “suspect”. Hasan went to church with two of the 9/11 hijackers. A Rasmussen national survey found that 65% of Americans favor the death penalty in Hasan’s case, and that 60% want the case investigated as an act of terrorism.

In closing I wish you all a happy and and safe new year.. feel free to friend me on twitter or facebook and say hello more often in 2010 there are simply more ways to say hello!

Happy New Year,

Malcom Chakery
